India approves order for hundreds of T-90MS tanks
The Cabinet Committee on Security in India approved the acquisition of 464 T-90MS MBTs from Russia in early April 2019.
The procurement for the Indian Army is valued at INR134.48 billion ($1.93 billion), and it had originally been approved by the MoD’s Defence Acquisition Council in November 2016.
In India’s tortuous procurement processes, this committee approval is the final step that will precede the signing of a contract between the MoD and Rosoboronexport. The contract is expected to be signed in the next few months.
